Help shape future of Neurological rehab services

Local people who have experienced a neurological condition are being invited to join a group to help improve services for the future.

Run by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, the new Neurological Conditions Panel is being formed to work alongside clinicians to ensure recovery services are developed jointly so they can better meet the needs of patients and families.

Neurological conditions are diseases of the brain, spine and the nerves that connect them. There are more than 600 diseases of the nervous system, such as brain injuries, brain tumours, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and stroke.

Anyone with experience of such a condition, or who has cared for someone living with a neurological illness, is being invited to an open meeting on Monday, May 13th from 3pm at the Charles Hastings Education Centre near the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Dr Nicola Wilson, Clinical Psychologist at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, said: “We are in the process of establishing a group of volunteers to provide an expert by experience point of view. The aim of this is to help ensure people with neurological conditions’ voices are heard, and think together about how to develop Worcestershire Health and Care Trust Neuro-Rehabilitation Services. We would welcome anyone who would be interested to join the meeting to come along and find out more.”

If you would like to attend or have any questions please contact the Neuropsychology Service on 01905 733 252 or email WHCNHS.neuropanel@nhs.net
