Admiral Nurses are registered mental health nurses who specialise in dementia, giving much-needed practical and emotional support to family carers, as well as the person with dementia. They offer a county wide service supporting families throughout their experience of dementia using interventions tailored to each family’s individual needs and challenges. They provide families with the knowledge to understand the condition and its effects, the skills and tools to improve communication, and offer emotional and psychological support to help family carers to sustain caring for their family member. They are able to take on complex cases and provide specialist support and advice to other professionals.
Admiral Nurses are supported professionally by the charity Dementia UK work in partnership with Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust to develop their Admiral Nurse team.
