What is Young Onset Dementia?

If a person’s symptoms of dementia begin before they are 65 they may be described as having “young-onset dementia”. Other terms used include “younger people with dementia”, “early-onset dementia or “working-age dementia.” There are an estimated 42, 000 younger people living with dementia in the UK which would suggest there are between 300 - 400 people living with young onset dementia in Worcestershire.

The Alzheimer’s Society has produced a helpful factsheet about young onset dementia which you may find useful to read. This can be accessed by clicking here

Young Dementia UK has an extremely informative website about living with dementia at a younger age. This can be accessed by clicking here
