Psychological counselling
Brief description
Clients are provided with up to six non-directive counselling
sessions. Non-directive counselling means that the counsellor will
encourage clients to discuss their feelings and worries but will
not offer opinions or advice about what they should do.
Client group
The service is provided for people experiencing common mental
health problems (anxiety and depression).
How the services are accessed
South Worcestershire:
The service is accessed through GP's and usually follows an
assessment by the Mental Health Gateway Worker working within the
GP practice.
Wyre Forest:
The counselling service is accessed through GP's.
Bromsgrove & Redditch:
Provided under contract by the Worcestershire Primary Care
Trust. Accessed via GP's in their own practices.
Availability of service
Services are available between 9am and 5pm on specific days
within different GP surgeries.

Wyre Forest:
Kidderminster, Bewdley, Stourport
Bromsgrove & Redditch:
Provided under contract by Worcestershire PCT.
