As a mother one of the best things that only you can do for your baby is to breastfeed. Breastfeeding will provide your baby with all the nutrients needed for healthy growth and development. Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond
Virtually all mothers can breastfeed, provided they have accurate information, and the support of their family, the health care system and society at large.
Worcestershire Health and Care Trust aim to provide a high standard of care so that pregnant women and mothers get the support and information needed to enable them to breastfeed successfully for as long as they wish.
Worcestershire Health and Care Trust in collaboration with Worcestershire Children’s Centres is working towards Unicef Baby Friendly accreditation.
Don't be afraid to ask for support or advice to make breastfeeding work for you and your baby. Speak to your health visitor or contact the breastfeeding supporters. Remember, breastfeeding is a very special, unique and enjoyable experience. With practice and support during the first few days and weeks you will succeed.
