A county-wide service providing the coordination of the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme Health Visitors currently provide Newborn Hearing Screening usually in the family home.. For babies that require the secondary Newborn Hearing Screen (AABR), The Newborn Hearing Screening Team will either offer a community clinic appointment or home visit.
The School hearing sweep test is carried out in school for all reception aged children by the School Health Nursing Teams.
Children and young people aged 0 to 18 years.
How the service is accessed
All eligible babies are offered a Newborn Hearing Screen.
School sweep offered to all children in reception year. Referrals for school age hearing assessment are also accepted from a range of professionals most frequently GP’s and Speech and Language Therapists.
Referrals for pre school hearing assessments are managed by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and are accepted from a range of professionals most frequently Health Visitors and Speech and Language Therapists.
The Newborn Hearing Screening Team are based at Isaac Maddox House, Worcester
The School Age Audiometric Team are based at Isaac Maddox House Worcester, and provide Hearing assessment community clinics and at schools throughout the county.
