Children’s Speech and Language Therapy services in Worcestershire have been awarded a national ‘Giving Voice Award’ by The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT). Worcestershire Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service, run by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust provides support for over 6,500 children and young people in Worcestershire, who may experience difficulties with their speech, language, communication or swallowing.

The team were awarded a ‘Giving Voice Award’ earlier this month, at a ceremony which celebrates organisations and individuals who have campaigned to highlight how speech and language therapy transforms lives.

Winners are chosen based on their valuable contributions to improving the lives of people with communication and/or swallowing needs. Click here for more

We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted in the health sector’s most prestigious awards programme.

The HSJ (Health Service Journal) Awards are one of the largest celebrations of healthcare excellence in the world, recognising and promoting the finest achievements in the NHS. The Health and Care Trust, Worcestershire’s main provider of community and mental health services, is up for the ‘Creating a Supportive Staff Culture’ award.

The Trust has been shortlisted in recognition of a project it runs with both Worcester and Coventry Universities to offer placement opportunities to student Occupational Therapists. The project was developed by Jo Gaffney, Professional Lead for Allied Health Professionals, and Kate Leese, Staff Health and Wellbeing Lead. Click here for more information

Patients at a local hospital have recently created two pieces of art work which now feature permanently in its Multi-Faith Room.

Patients being cared for on Izod Ward at Evesham Community Hospital, run by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, have spent three weeks creating two wall hangings for the Multi-Faith Room which provides a place where patients relatives or staff can  go to find quiet reflection or worship at the hospital.  All are invited to share this amenity which is intended to provide a warm welcome for anyone of any faith. Those of no faith are also welcome and there is a spiritual area for those who wish to light a candle, meditate or reflect.
