Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust – Workforce Profile

It is right and fair that the delivery of care at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust reflects the diversity of the population we serve.

Knowing the profile of the workforce helps identify under-represented groups/individuals, any potential/actual unfair practices and gives the Trust an opportunity to address these and other issues. This information ensures Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust complies with  the Public Sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010 in eliminating discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity and fostering good relations within its workforce. 

As an example, a comparison of the ethnicity group figures for the 2001 census with the 2011 census shows Worcestershire has a non-White population of 2.4% in 2001 and 4.2% population in 2011. However, the national non-white population for England is 14.5%  for 2011. 

While the non-white population for Worcestershire is 4.2% the Trust’s workforce profile shows a higher representation in employment of 6.28%.

There is further information that can be extracted and further analysis of the data but this gives an example relating to one area of the Equality Act where the Trust measures its Workforce against the population profile of Worcestershire to ensure that is representation.
