Your child will have had a Newborn Hearing Screening performed as a baby; this service is now provided by the Acute.

The Hearing Screening test is carried out in school for all reception aged children by the School Health Nursing Teams.

Client group

Children and young people from Reception age to 18 years. Children can be referred to the School Audiology clinic at any age during their school life if there are any concerns.

How the service is accessed

Hearing Screening offered to all children in reception year. Referrals for school age hearing assessment are also accepted from a range of professionals most frequently GP’s, Speech and Language Therapists and School Health Nurses.

Referrals for pre-school hearing assessments are managed by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and are accepted from a range of professionals most frequently Health Visitors and Speech and Language Therapists.

The School Age Hearing / Audiometric Team provide clinics across Worcestershire, with an administration base at Kings Court 1, Worcester.
