NHS Rainbow Badge

NHS rainbow badges are a national initiative which originated in Evelina London Children’s Hospital to make a positive difference. LGBT+ represents lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender with the + representing inclusivity of all identities regardless of how a person defines themselves. Etc

The Rainbow Badges initiative gives staff a way to show that the Trust offers open, non-judgemental and inclusive care for anyone who identifies as LGBT+. Despite improving social attitudes in general towards LGBT+ people in the UK, negative attitudes (such as homophobia, biphobia, transphobia) are still widely prevalent.

By choosing to wear the badge, you are sending a message that “you can talk to me” about issues of gender and sexuality. You aren't expected to solve all their issues and concerns but you are a friendly ear and will know how to signpost to support available.

Sign the pledge and request your badge now!
