Children’s Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Specialist Play Service
Our service is made up of teams of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, assistant practitioners, specialist play workers and admin, who support children, young people and their families to be able to do the things that are important to them. We see children and young people from 0-18 years old in clinics, their homes, schools and community venues. We also see young people up to the age of 19 in special schools.
We follow national and local professional guidelines and have a robust training and review structure as well as working to the professional standards of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and professional bodies.
We work closely with other professionals such as Health Visitors, School nurses, Paediatricians, Speech and Language Therapists, teachers, Social Care, Orthotics services, and consultants to provide joined-up care.
For many children and young people, this support might be offered in familiar settings such as their school, a Family Hub, or an early years setting. We work across Worcestershire in different bases including;
- The Beacon Centre, Worcester
- Kidderminster Health Centre
- The Princess of Wales Community Hospital, Bromsgrove
- The Scott Atkinson Centre, Redditch
We also offer support across a number of community venues including child development centres , schools and leisure.
Our treatment and support
We work in a balanced way, so rather than offering the same help to everyone, we look carefully at what a child or young person actually needs – so they receive the right level of care. You can read more in our newsletter [opens the main Trust website].
Our priorities are to help children and young people stay safe and independent in their daily routines, which may involve recommending specialist equipment. We also deliver personalised care plans for those with significant needs, working closely with families and educational settings to achieve individual goals.
Our aim is to make everyday tasks easier and more enjoyable, helping children and young people reach their full potential in all areas of life.
