Our offer to you and the NHS People Promise

We are aligned to The NHS People Promise. The NHS People Promise is a national pledge to improve the working experience for everyone in the health service. It outlines seven key commitments to make the NHS the best place to work: compassionate and inclusive cultures, fair reward, voice that counts, safe and healthy environments, continuous learning, flexible working, and teamwork

To support and thank our staff, we've developed 'Our Offer to You' which illustrates how the trust embraces each of the seven People Promises.

Celebrating our staff

Our colleagues make a difference every day, and we believe that great work deserves to be recognised. From celebrating everyday acts of kindness to honouring outstanding achievements, we are committed to creating a culture where people feel valued, appreciated and proud of the contribution they make.

We recognise and reward our colleagues in a variety of ways throughout the year, including:

  • Big Shout Out – our weekly peer recognition programme, celebrating colleagues who have gone above and beyond or made a positive difference to those around them.
  • CEO CARES Awards – recognising individuals and teams who demonstrate our Trust values of being Courageous, Ambitious, Responsive, Empowering and Supportive.
  • Annual Staff Awards – a special event celebrating excellence, innovation and dedication across the Trust, alongside recognition for long service to the NHS.

Whether it's recognising exceptional patient care, applauding teamwork, celebrating career achievements or simply saying thank you, we are proud to foster a culture where everyone's contribution is valued and celebrated.

All NHS staff benefit from generous holiday and annual leave entitlement. When you start working with the Trust, you will receive the following days annual leave allowance (pro-rata for part-timers), plus bank holidays:

  • 27 days
  • After 5 years NHS service, 29 days
  • After 10 years NHS service, 33 days

Learning and development

We want to see you grow and flourish, and there’s lots of development opportunities on offer. We regularly advertise secondments internally, provide lots of online learning resources, and encourage staff to take up training which enhances their career and skills.

Flexible Working

Creating a supportive and inclusive workplace means recognising that people work best in different ways. That's why we are committed to flexible working and helping colleagues find working arrangements that support both their professional responsibilities and personal lives.

Flexible working from day one

From your first day with us, you have the right to request flexible working. This means you can ask for changes to your working pattern, hours, or location of work, helping you achieve a better work-life balance while continuing to deliver high-quality care and services.

Whether you're looking for part-time hours, compressed working, or other flexible options, we'll work with you to explore what is possible within your role and service needs. Our approach is guided by the NHS England National Flexible Working People Policy Framework, supporting greater flexibility for all NHS colleagues.

We believe that flexible working helps create a happier, healthier and more productive workforce, enabling people to thrive at every stage of their career.

Salary sacrifice schemes

What is a salary sacrifice arrangement?

A salary sacrifice arrangement is an agreement between an employer and an employee to reduce an employee's entitlement to cash pay in return for a non-cash benefit.

Car lease scheme

For a fixed monthly amount, you can get a brand-new car and then everything else is sorted out for you, including insurance, road tax, replacement tyres, servicing, MOT and breakdown. There’s certain eligibility, but the main one is you are a permanent staff member.

Cycle2Work scheme

Cycling is a great, low cost and healthy way to get around. You can save on other transport costs and know you’re doing your bit for the environment at the same time. Through our Cycle2Work scheme, you choose a bike and any accessories, hire them for an agreed length of time and exchange a set amount of your salary each month. Join our team and you’ll qualify for tax free cycling entitlement.
