At Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, the quality and safety of your care are our highest priorities. There are national and local standards, policies and procedures to ensure you have the best possible outcomes and experience.
We adhere to the NHS Constitution for our standards and waiting times. We are inspected and regulated by national organisations who ensure we provide services to expected levels and meet our commitments within the National Health Service. We also take very seriously the feedback we get from patients and visitors and respond to concerns when they arise.

Major Incidents or Emergencies
"Major Incident" and "Major Emergency" are different terms for the same thing. Generally, an emergency is an event or situation, with or without warning which threatens serious damage to human welfare, the environment or security in the United Kingdom. For the NHS, that might mean a situation that presents a serious threat to the health of the community, disruption to our services, or causes (or is likely to cause) such numbers or types of casualties that we would need to put in place special arrangements with Hospitals and Ambulance Trusts or Primary Care providers.

In the event of an emergency, listen to your local radio stations and television broadcasts. Please do not dial 999 or other emergency telephone lines unless you need assistance with an immediate physical or medical emergency.
Major Incident Planning
The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 places a responsibility on organisations at the heart of the emergency response to assess the risks in their area, make plans and respond to an emergency situation.
We work with a number of organisations including West Mercia Police, Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue Service, West Midlands Ambulance Service, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Public Health, local authorities and the Environment Agency to ensure that we have plans to respond to any emergency, 24 hours a day.
We have a Major Incident Plan and specific plans in place to deal with particular types of emergencies, such as pandemic flu and heatwave. All are reviewed and tested regularly.
