Community Hospital Mental Health Liaison Service (CH MHL)

  • The Community Hospital Mental Health Liaison Service (CH MHL) offers a single point of access for advice, assessment, care, and treatment for patients of any age admitted to community hospitals in Worcestershire.

  • Service hours: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm

About the service

The service supports patients presenting with mental health needs while receiving physical health treatment and rehabilitation in community hospitals in Worcestershire. Patients within the Princess of Wales Community Hospital - Bromsgrove, Evesham Community Hospital, Malvern Community Hospital, Worcester City Inpatient Unit, Wyre Forest Ward - Kidderminster, Tenbury Community Hospital and Pershore Community Hospital can access support from the service.

The clinical team includes advanced clinical practitioners (ACP), a trainee non-medical approved clinician, and consultant psychiatrists.

Referrals for patients who are known and open to community services will be triaged, with time-sensitive advice provided to the wards or service delivering their care. Following this, the patient will be transferred to the care of the responsible community mental health team, who can assist with further advice, review, or support around hospital discharge.

Information for professionals

All referrals will be triaged by a clinician within 24 hours (Monday - Friday). Referrers will receive a response within 3 working days.
