Mental Health Liaison - Worcestershire

  • The Mental Health Liaison Team provides comprehensive assessment to all people, regardless of age, who attend Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital Emergency Departments following an episode of self-harm, attempted suicide or presenting with symptoms of mental illness.

About the service

The Mental Health Liaison Team provides comprehensive assessment to all people, regardless of age, who attend Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital Emergency Departments following an episode of self-harm, attempted suicide or presenting with symptoms of mental illness.

This service is also provided to all patients admitted to medical wards for treatment following self-harm or attempted suicide.

All patients assessed will be offered a robust, individualised care plan based on the needs identified during the assessment.

The team accepts referrals from hospital based health care professionals.

The service operates 7 days per week 08:00-22:00

The Mental Health Liaison Team provides assessment, ongoing care and treatment, onward referral and signposting for all other mental health related presentations across Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital inpatient wards; this includes patients transferred from inpatient mental health wards & patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1985.

The team accepts e-referrals from hospital based health care professionals accessed via the Worcestershire Acute Trust intranet page.

The team accepts referrals from mental health inpatient wards via the hospital pager system.
