5. Is a long day shift routinely offered?
6. What is the Registered Nurse to patient ratio on each shift? Please highlight any differences between weekdays and weekends 
7. What is the Mental Health Support Worker to patient ratio? Please highlight any differences between weekdays and weekends 
8. What is the minimum number of Registered Nurses on duty at one time?
9. What was the bed occupancy for the month of March for all PICUs identified in question 3?
10. Are staffing numbers adjusted if beds are unoccupied?

Trust response:

1. Yes.

2. Only 1 ward which has single room, en suite accommodation. Maintain male and female    corridor for bedrooms with shared communal space.

3. 9.

4. 0700-1930 and 1900-0730.

5. Yes.

6.7. Day shift 2 RMN, Night shift 2 RMN every day. Plus Ward Manager (RMN) Mon-Fri 0900-1700. Plus OT Mon-Fri 0900-1700.

8. Day shift 4 HCA, Night Shift 3 every day. This is increased as required if acuity increases.

12. Staffing establishments are formally reviewed and adjusted as required bi annually as part of safer staffing processes. This is done through triangulation of standardised tools, outcome measures and professional judgment. Staff deployment is reviewed daily (as a minimum), including forward look, through Safecare to ensure staffing on shift aligns to patient acuity and dependency with escalation processes in place where risks are identified.
