£2 million investment into Worcester Dental Clinic
A city centre dental clinic for people with additional needs will benefit from a £2m facelift.
Moor Street Clinic is home to the community dental service which supports people with a disability, learning difficulty or behavioural condition, such as dental anxiety, which can make it difficult for the patient to attend a general dental practice. The improvement works will begin next Spring and will help modernise the dental service, improve the experience for patients, and make access easier for those with mobility challenges.
Rod Smith, Associate Medical Director - Children’s Young People and Families, & Specialist Primary Care commented:
“This is a significant investment by the Trust to improve the dental facilities in the city centre for the care of community dental patients. The new facilities will mean easier access for patients and more up to date equipment to enable treatments to be carried out more comfortably, particularly for special care and paediatric patients. Moor Street will become Worcestershire Community Dental Services main site and enable us to carry out treatments not previously available.”
The Community Dental Service is run by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, which also provides the county’s mental health and community nursing and therapy services, including running local Community Hospitals.

It is another example of our commitment to investing in our NHS City Centre services at a challenging time, providing the best possible environment for all our patients and on-site staff.”
Moor Street will close by the end of August for works to start, with patients been seen at either Lowesmoor or the dental unit at Malvern Community Hospital while the work takes place. The re-occupation of the building is expected to take place from Spring 2021.
