Bromsgrove Minor Injury Unit - weekend service changes

Princess of Wales Community Hospital
This briefing has been updated to reflect changes in service provision.

Ahead of opening a new minor injury unit (MIU) on Monday, the existing unit, located within the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove, will operate a reduced service on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October 2025.

A reduction in service provision will allow clinical teams to relocate equipment and prepare the new space for patients ahead of opening the new minor injury unit from 8am on Monday, 6th October 2025.

The new unit boasts five treatment rooms, a dedicated resuscitation bay, specialist eye injury facilities, and a plaster room - all aimed at improving patient experience and streamlining care.

Located on the ground floor of the main hospital building, it is conveniently located next to the existing X-ray department, streamlining the patient journey and enhancing diagnostic efficiency.

Patients requiring treatment or advice for a minor injury this weekend are encouraged to contact NHS 111, or visit one of Worcestershire’s alternative minor injury units, located in Evesham, Malvern, Kidderminster and Tenbury.

“We’re kindly asking patients from Bromsgrove and surrounding areas to contact NHS 111 if they need advice or treatment for a minor injury this weekend”, said Dan Marshall, Modern Matron and Minor Injury Unit Lead.

“NHS 111 can provide expert guidance on the most appropriate service – whether that’s another MIU, a GP, pharmacy, or in some cases, an emergency department.

“It’s a simple as phoning 111, or using their online service accessed by visiting 111.nhs.uk”.

Patients with any of the following symptoms should call 999 or attend their nearest emergency department:

  • Major trauma (e.g. serious road traffic accidents, significant falls)
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Severe difficulty breathing
  • Persistent, severe chest pain
  • Uncontrolled or heavy bleeding
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Signs of stroke
