Early May bank holiday brings extended x ray services at Bromsgrove and Malvern Minor Injury Units
Minor Injury Units (MIUs) at Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove and Malvern Community Hospital will be offering extended x‑ray services over the weekend and on the May bank holiday Monday.
This means more people can be seen, assessed and treated closer to home without needing to attend A&E.
The additional x‑ray availability builds on recent extended services that have already helped many local people get the care they need more quickly.
Dawn Shaw, MIU Team Lead at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, said: “Bank holidays are a popular time for days out and activities, which can sometimes lead to unexpected injuries. By making x‑ray services available over this time, we’re giving people more local options for getting checked and treated quickly, without needing to go to A&E unless it’s really necessary.”
All patients will be assessed by the MIU team first to decide the best course of action. X‑rays are not available as a walk‑in service without an assessment.
Minor Injury Units remain open throughout weekends and bank holidays and can treat injuries such as sprains, simple fractures, cuts, burns, minor head injuries and wound infections.
