Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust is expanding diagnostic support across the county this March, with extended weekend X‑ray services available at the Minor Injury Units (MIUs) in Bromsgrove and Malvern.

The extended service aims to support the wider health and care system by easing pressures on urgent and emergency care settings and enabling patients to access quicker diagnostic assessments for minor injuries.

All patients will be assessed by the MIU clinical team to determine whether an X‑ray is appropriate.

Please note, X-ray services will be available on all March weekends except 22 March at Princess of Wales Community MIU in Bromsgrove and 8 March at Malvern Community Hospital MIU.

Speaking about the extended service, Dan Marshall, Matron for County Wide Minor Injury Units said “These additional X‑ray sessions will make a real difference for patients who need timely assessments for minor injuries. By increasing access locally, we’re helping people get the right care sooner while also reducing pressures on our busy emergency departments.”

MIUs across Worcestershire remain open throughout weekends, providing expert care for a range of non‑life‑threatening injuries including sprains, simple fractures, cuts, burns, minor head injuries, and wound infections.

Residents are encouraged to use their local MIU when appropriate to help reduce waiting times and maintain capacity in busy emergency departments.

Details about MIU and X-ray opening times are available on the Trust website: www.hacw.nhs.uk/MIU. Anyone needing urgent health advice is encouraged to contact NHS111 online or by phone.
