Families have a wonder-yule time at Christmas Grotto!

Hundreds of families and children got into the festive spirit as they visited Father Christmas’ grotto and toy station at WANDS family hub, Droitwich on Wednesday afternoon (20th December).

Festive cheer was in full swing as children and their families were greeted by Frosty the Snowman, the grinch and his elves, before meeting Santa in his magical grotto.

But the fun didn’t stop there, children were able to make up packets of reindeer food, ready to leave out for Rudolph on Christmas eve along with a selection of pictures to colour, while waiting to meet Santa. After telling Santa they had been good children this year, they were able to choose a gift from the toy station and pick up a family baking activity kit to enjoy together at home over the festive season.

Starting Well Worcestershire and Action for Children would like to give special thanks to Platform Community Kindness Campaign, Salvation Army and Wahegru. As the event wouldn't have been possible without their generous donations, which allowed the team to buy gifts, books, family baking activities and craft packs for families living in Wychavon, as well as distributing presents within the community.

Ness Cole, South Worcestershire Community and Parenting lead for Starting Well Partnership said: “It was heart-warming to see the joy on the children’s faces as they met our resident Santa! And none of this would be possible without the kind support from local companies each year.”

The Starting Well Partnership provides support to parents, families, children, and young people to live happy, healthy, and fulfilled lived across Worcestershire.

Led by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, together with Action for Children, Barnardo’s and Redditch Borough Council, the partnership brings together a range of teams from health visitors, specialist nursery nurses, breastfeeding support, school health nurses, and support for children who require more specialist care to ‘parents to be’ and their children during the early years and as they move through school towards adulthood.
