Research and Development Team joins vaccine van on the road

It’s been a busy autumn with members of the Trust’s Research and Development Team joining the SW Healthcare vaccination van, as they deliver vital COVID-19 vaccines to local residents.

As part of their outreach activity, the team have joined colleagues from SW Healthcare to promote the importance of research at vaccine clinics.

In addition to vaccine research, the team support a range of studies into different physical and mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, dementia, complex neurology, dietetics, and musculoskeletal conditions. Brown paper bags featuring the I Am Research logo

Lifesaving vaccines are only available thanks to the hard work of health research and the people involved at all stages of the process. From study teams and the Health Research Authority (HRA), to clinicians within NHS organisations, and crucially people – like you and me; we all have a role to play in the continued development of effective and safe vaccines.

Alice Madden, Research Project Support Officer said, “We have been warmly welcomed by the vaccination van teams and it has been great for us to pilot outreach research promotion.

“Engaging with the public in a familiar, local community place for them, not just clinical settings, has been fantastic both for the public and us, and is something that we will continue to build on.”
