Tenbury Minor Injury Unit to re-open

Tenbury Minor Injury Unit (MIU) will re-open on Monday (April 4th) following a period of temporary closure.

Due in part to rising demands across urgent care services, the Unit was closed for 3 months in January with the team asked to support community hospitals under increased pressure.

The plan was always to re-open the Unit in the spring and from Monday, it will again be available 9am until 5pm 7 days a week.

Phil Shakeshaft, Lead Nurse for Minor Injury Units at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust which runs the MIU and local community hospitals, said: “We are delighted to be re-opening the minor injury unit at Tenbury Hospital as planned.

"MIUs across the county are there to treat injuries such as sprains, burns, wounds and fractures which aren’t emergencies or life threatening. With emergency departments under pressure, MIUs can treat lots of injuries without experiencing the long waits you may get in A&E. We will accept walk-ins or you can book an appointment slot by calling NHS111 first.”
