Sexual health team raises funds for air ambulance

Staff from the Worcestershire Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) service proudly donated a cheque to representatives from Midlands Air Ambulance on Friday, last week.

This follows a host of fundraising activities last year, where the team raised £350 for the charity.

Led by Jenni Tansley, Administrator for the Pregnancy Advisory service, the team held a bake sale with freshly made cakes for staff to enjoy during break, with each contribution going directly to raise money for the charity.

Jenni set up and decorated a dedicated donation table for staff to contribute to while enjoying a baked snack.

Fundraising was initiated by Vicki Smith, a healthcare assistant by day turned crafter, who used her own materials and skills to make bespoke items for the cause. These were then sold to friends and colleagues over the festive period.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity relies only on charitable donations for their service. They treat thousands of critically ill and injured patients across the Midlands including those in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Vicki chose this charity to support this great cause and to spread festive cheer amongst colleagues during the holiday period:

“I’m really happy to have been able to contribute to this wonderful cause. Working in the NHS, I know how much it means to get to those in need on time, so I am glad I could do my part to help them.”

“I’m also really thankful to my colleagues, who liked my crafts and donated. A special thanks to Jenni as well, without whom this would not have been such a success!”

Charley Burke, Worcestershire fundraising executive at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity said , “A big thanks to Vicki, Jenni, and the entire Integrated Sexual Health team for their contribution. They showed great initiative and dedication in raising these funds. Well done!”
