Worcestershire-based local NHS services nominated for four prestigious awards

Four services from Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust have been named as finalists for the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards 2025.

Hosted by Newsquest, the awards shine a spotlight on the dedication and hard work of health and social care professionals across Worcestershire. Held every year, the awards recognise individuals, teams and services in the health and social care industry who go above and beyond to support patients and families.

The four services shortlisted are:

  • The Orchard Service (North Worcestershire) for the Palliative/End of Life Award. Based at the Princess of Wales Community Hospital, the team supports children and young people with life-limiting conditions, offering specialist nursing and palliative care across North Worcestershire.
  • The Wellbeing and Emotional Support Teams (WEST) in schools for the Child & Adolescent Health Care Award. WEST works with schools to help children and young people manage mental health challenges like anxiety, low mood and exam stress. They offer one-to-one and group support, along with advice for families and staff.
  • Worcester Neighbourhood Team for NHS Team of the Year Award. The team brings together health and care professionals to deliver joined-up care at home, helping patients stay out of hospital and receive support in familiar surroundings.
  • Older Adult Mental Health Team (Worcester and Droitwich) for NHS Team of the Year Award. They support older people with dementia and other mental health needs, focusing on personalised care that promotes independence and quality of life.

Natalie Willetts, Director of Nursing at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust says, “I’m incredibly proud that four of our services have been recognised this year. Each nomination represents the care, compassion and excellence our teams strive to deliver every single day. A huge thank you to the people behind these services, who truly embody the values and dedication that define the Trust.”

One of finalists, Orchard Service, added, “As a team, we are incredibly grateful for this nomination and deeply touched by the kind words of the family who nominated us. Supporting families during the most difficult points in their lives is a profound responsibility and privilege. Being able to offer compassionate care, guidance, and support at such a time is at the heart of everything we do. To know we have made a difference means the world to our team.”

Finalists will be invited to a black-tie awards dinner on Thursday 4th September 2025 at the Bank House Hotel in Bransford, where winners will be announced.
