Minor Injury Units (MIUs) in Bromsgrove, Evesham, Malvern and Tenbury are open for patients who need treatment for minor injuries this winter.

The units, managed by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust offer advice and treatment for a variety of injuries including; cuts, grazes, wounds, sprains, strains and minor burns.

They are open daily, including bank holidays and Christmas Day to treat minor injuries which do not require emergency treatment from an A&E department.

Patients needing treatment should contact NHS111, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can be accessed online or by calling 111 free from mobiles and landlines.

Trained advisors will discuss the patient’s symptoms to identify the most appropriate health care service for their need. If this is Minor Injury Unit they will arrange for the patient to speak to an Emergency Nurse Practitioner at the service, to identify the most suitable course of treatment for their injury.

Where required, the patient will be invited into the service for a face-to-face appointment to receive treatment or have an x-ray.

Phil Shakeshaft, Minor Injury Unit Lead for Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, said: “With the added pressures of COVID-19 this winter, it’s important to know how to access urgent help when you need it. For patients requiring treatment for a minor injury, we’re encouraging them to contact NHS111 to ensure they get the right treatment from the most appropriate service. This helps our services to treat patients quicker and supports social distancing in our waiting areas.”

In addition to the above services, patients can also attend Kidderminster Minor Injuries Unit, provided by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

The service is based at Kidderminster Hospital and Treatment Centre and is currently open 8am- 10pm every day.
