PWP

What are PWP Treatments?

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) treatments are structured, short-term interventions that help people manage stress, anxiety, and depression. The PWP will use guided self-help techniques to support you in developing practical skills and strategies to improve your wellbeing.

Together with your PWP, you will explore the difficulties you are experiencing, identify areas where change may be helpful, and work towards reducing symptoms and improving your wellbeing.

Who are PWP Treatments for?

PWP treatments may be helpful if:

  • Stress, anxiety, or depression is your main difficulty
  • You would like practical strategies to help manage your symptoms
  • You are willing to try self-help techniques between sessions
  • You are looking for a structured, short-term intervention

PWP treatments may not be helpful if:

  • You require more intensive or longer-term psychological therapy
  • You have several different difficulties that you want to work on
  • Another type of treatment may be better suited to your needs

What happens in PWP Treatments?

PWP sessions are generally about 30 minutes. In your PWP treatment you will:

  • Set SMART goals that relate directly to your problem
  • Learn techniques to manage your problem
  • Practise the techniques
  • Work towards recovery

PWP treatments focus on practical strategies that can help you manage symptoms and improve your wellbeing. For example:

  • Setting realistic and achievable goals
  • Understanding how your daily activities affect your mood
  • Learning effective problem-solving skills
  • Gradually facing fears and anxieties
  • Identifying and challenging unhelpful thinking patterns
