Supporting mental health across Herefordshire and Worcestershire

Organisations across Herefordshire and Worcestershire are working together to help people learn more about mental health, find support when they need it, and look after their wellbeing.
Over the coming months, we will be supporting World Suicide Prevention Day (10th September) and World Mental Health Day (10th October). These key dates encourage people to talk openly about mental health, check in on friends and family, and seek help if they are struggling.
By working together, our aim is to make it easier for people to find help, understand where to go for support, and feel confident reaching out when they need to. This page will be updated throughout the campaign and will bring together helpful resources, support services, event and activities.
Whether you are looking for support for yourself, a friend, family member or colleague, you will find information and signposting here.
Together, we can help build a community where people feel supported, know where to find help, and understand that nobody has to face mental health challenges alone.
Orange button scheme
Join the Orange Button Community
The Orange Button Community Scheme is building a network of compassionate individuals across Herefordshire and Worcestershire who are ready to talk about suicide openly, safely, and without stigma.
Wearing an Orange Button shows your community that you're someone who:
- Is comfortable saying and hearing the word suicide
- Can listen with empathy and without judgment
- Knows where to guide people for help and support
You can apply for an Orange Button pack, as long as you have completed around 3 hours of quality assured suicide prevention content in the past 2 years.

Beer Mat Campaign
Herefordshire Mind supported by Herefordshire Council is launching a new Beer Mat Campaign across pubs, bars and night time venues to make mental health support more visible. The beer mats feature a discreet QR code linking to local services, offering a simple way for anyone struggling to reach out. As part of the campaign, participating venues will be celebrated for helping to make support easier to find in their communities, and if these beer mats help start even one conversation, encourage one person to seek help, or offer hope at the right moment, they’ll have done their job.
