Our Ref: HWHCT-255

FOI request:

I am writing to request the following information from your NHS trust:

The number of whistleblowing claims raised with the trust in the past five calendar years (2018-2022), broken down by year, department, and main concern (i.e., patient safety, poor care/abuse, etc)

If possible, please specify how many claims were investigated, how many resulted in disciplinary/organisational action, and how many were dismissed

I just wanted to clarify a couple of things in my below request, following a number of emails from trusts requesting clarification:

Please adhere to the definition of ‘whistleblowing’ as ‘raising concerns’.

The term ‘claims’ does not relate to financial claims or legal action against the trust, it instead means instances of raising concerns (i.e. claiming that something has happened, as opposed to claiming in a legal sense).

The term 'investigated' means the number of concerns which had a full/formal investigation

Trust response:

We have reviewed our records and we have no formal cases logged within HR for the period referred to that have been raised or investigated under the Whistleblowing Policy.

Please be aware that although this information is accurate at the time it is provided, it may not be in the future and should not be relied upon.
