Families enjoy magical light trail thanks to the generosity of local business
Families supported by Orchard Service, Worcestershire’s children’s community nursing and palliative care team, were treated to a magical evening at a festive light trail last week.
Thanks to the generosity of St Peters Garden Centre, children with life-limiting or complex health needs and their families enjoyed a wonderful trip filled with sparkling lights, festive cheer, and even a special visit from Father Christmas himself.
Orchard Service, provided by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, cares for children aged 0–18 who have complex, life-threatening, and life-limiting conditions. The team works closely with GPs, paediatricians, hospital wards, health visitors, and school health nurses to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and support early discharge.
Helen Clayton, Family Support Worker, said “Having a child with a long-term or life-limiting condition can make spending time together as a family challenging. Thanks to the kindness of the team at St Peters, we gave families the chance to relax, make memories, and enjoy the festive season.
“We are truly grateful to the team at St Peters who gifted our families’ complimentary tickets, and helped make this special evening possible.”
“We’re thrilled to have welcomed families from the Orchard Service to our Light Trail this year,” said Jamie Armstrong, Digital Manager at St Peters Garden Centre.
“Creating magical moments for the local community is something we value deeply, and it’s wonderful to know everyone had such an enjoyable evening."
