NHS Staff recognised for support for students at annual Mentor Awards

Ben Workman and Chris Clark with their awards at the University of Worcester Mentor Awards

Staff from Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust have been recognised for the support they provide to students at a University awards ceremony.

The University of Worcester’s Health and Care Mentor Awards 2022 were held at a recent event at the University of Worcester Arena. They celebrate the contribution of healthcare professionals who offer support to university students training in the workplace, recognising exceptional student support in practice.

Awards are presented to nurses, midwives, social workers, paramedics, occupational therapists, and expert mentors from a diverse array of professions within the sector.

Winners from Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust were:

Kelly Hollier - Outstanding Mentor of Nursing Students (Mental Health)

Sarah Blizzard - Outstanding Mentor of Nursing Associate Students

Ben Workman, based at Cromwell House, Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit in Worcester - Outstanding Mentor of Occupational Therapy Students

Christine Clark, based at Pershore Community Hospital - Outstanding Mentor of Post Registration Students

Early Intervention Dementia Service, based at Kidderminster Hospital - Outstanding Practice Learning Environment: Allied Health and Community

Christine Clark said: “I work at Pershore Community Hospital, and have mentored pre-registration nursing students and developmental ACPs for many years.

There is something uniquely fulfilling about training future generations of healthcare professionals; nurturing them and watching them grow, supporting them when they stumble and watching them soar and achieve their goals. Nursing is my passion as well as my career, and I feel extremely honoured to have received this award from the University of Worcester and would like to express my sincere gratitude to Kate for the lovely feedback on the nomination she submitted”.

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust is the main provider of community nursing and therapy services in Worcestershire. It also runs the county’s community hospitals. In addition it provides mental health services for children and adults across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
