Research and Development Conference 2026
We're excited to share our sixth annual National Research and Development Conference will run on 13th and 14th October 2026.
This is a virtual conference, run via Microsoft Teams. There will be four sessions on both days:
- 10am — 12 noon
- 1pm — 3pm
Everyone is welcome to join us, with free tickets now available to book here.
As in previous years the aim of our conference is to showcase some of the fantastic work that's happening in the research world.
Agenda
13th October:
Learning Disabilities focus (10am - 12 noon):
- Dr Amy Russell and Gary Bourlet: 'No research about us, without us: how to challenge health inequalities by making research and services accessible for people with learning disabilities'
- Dr. Rory Sheehan: 'Learning from Lives and Deaths - People with a Learning Disability and Autistic People'
- Dr Louisa Rhodes: 'Making Positive Moves – a research project and toolkit for supporting adults with Learning Disabilities to live their best life after discharge from hospital'
Psychosis focus (1pm — 3pm):
- Professor Graham Murray and Dr Marie Bowers: 'Early Intervention Mission and turbo-boosting NHS psychosis research'
- Dr Dominic Oliver: 'Using electronic health records to improve detection of risk for psychosis and bipolar disorders in clinical practice'
- Dr Jodie Russell: 'EI study- KIWI- Investigating Impact of Experience of Epistemological Injustice... impact on being experience being invalidated.'
14th October:
Management of long term conditions (10am - 12 noon):
- Prof Sally Singh: Chief Investigator of the PERFORM study (Personalised Exercise-Rehabilitation FOR people with Multiple long-term conditions). This study was run here.
- Prof Suzanne Reeves: 'Trial of Ondansetron as a Parkinson's Hallucinations Treatment or those with Lewy Body Dementia' (The TOP HAT study).
- Dr Stephanie Rossit: 'New portable tools for spatial inattention/neglect post-stroke.' This study is currently open here.
Health Inequalities - led by the University of Worcester (1-3pm):
- Dr Peter Unwin: Community based work: Gypsy, Romany, Travellers
- Dr Cate Rose: Developing Partnerships for Inclusive Health Research: Engaging Rural and Underserved Communities
- Dr Shirley Evans and Dr Ruby Smith: Exploring Access to Dementia Diagnosis and Support in Herefordshire and Worcestershire
- Professor Liz Hughes and Professor Dez Kyte; and PhD students: Andy Bolt and Laura Burley: Progress and plans for the THRIVE rural mental health programme
