Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has received national recognition from NHS England for its progress in improving staff experience and engagement.

The Trust, which delivers mental health and community services locally, has been acknowledged for making improvements to the experience of colleagues across the organisation, with positive progress recorded across all seven elements of the NHS People Promise, as well as in staff engagement and morale.

The recognition reflects the Trust’s continued commitment to creating a positive, inclusive and supportive workplace where colleagues feel valued, listened to and empowered to thrive.

A growing body of evidence shows that when staff feel supported and engaged, patient care improves. Positive staff experience is closely linked to better patient outcomes, safer care and stronger organisational performance.

Sue Harris, Director of Strategy, People and Culture, said “We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition from NHS England. We know that when our colleagues feel valued, supported and listened to, this has a direct impact on the quality of care we provide to patients and communities.

“This achievement reflects the collective efforts of colleagues across the Trust and the progress we are making together to build a culture where everyone feels they belong and can thrive.

“We remain focused on continuing to improve and ensuring every colleague has the best possible experience at work.”

The NHS Staff Survey is one of the largest workforce surveys in the world, gathering anonymous feedback from more than a million NHS employees across England each autumn.

The survey measures key aspects of staff experience, including wellbeing, engagement and morale, helping organisations and national bodies identify opportunities for improvement.

Alongside the annual NHS Staff Survey, the Trust conducts quarterly Pulse Surveys to monitor colleague experience throughout the year. These surveys help track progress, identify emerging themes and ensure improvement efforts remain aligned with the experiences and needs of staff.
