Worcestershire’s MIUs are here for you this Easter
Minor Injury Units (MIUs) across Worcestershire will be open daily throughout the Easter bank holiday weekend, offering prompt advice and treatment to anyone with a minor injury.
Staffed by Emergency Nurse Practitioners, the units offer advice and treatment for a variety of injuries including cuts, grazes, wounds, sprains, strains and minor burns.
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, which runs units in Bromsgrove, Evesham, Malvern and Tenbury are encouraging the public to utilise their local units over the Easter weekend to help ease pressure on local emergency departments.
Dawn Shaw, Matron for Countywide MIU's said, “By bringing your minor injuries to an MIU, you can help ease the pressure on busy emergency departments, which should only be used in emergency or life-threatening situations.
“Patients can walk-in to any of Worcestershire’s minor injury units for advice and treatment for a minor injury, this includes sporting injuries, minor burns, slips, trips, strains, sprains and minor cuts.
“If you’re unsure where best to go, the NHS 111 online website offers advice and signposting to local services based on your symptoms and the type of injury sustained - helping you to get the right help, in the right place”
Those needing treatment for a minor injury are encouraged to use the NHS111 online service (if patient is over the age of 5 years) or call NHS111 to speak to a trained adviser who, if required, will book an appointment for them to attend an MIU for treatment. Alternatively, they can walk-in to any of Worcestershire's Minor Injury Units without the need for an appointment.

Unfortunately, minor injury units are unable to treat illnesses. Those needing advice or treatment for a minor illness should visit their local pharmacy who offer expert, confidential advice as well as medicines for minor ailments such as colds, tummy troubles and much more.
