About the service

Why choose us:

We are committed to delivering evidence-based interventions, as we work collaboratively with professionals across the county to provide packages of care tailored to individual need. We network in the field of eating disorders to share good practice, knowledge and research findings. Treatment is based on research based evidence and practice as cited by NICE (National Institute for Clinical Effectiveness).

We work with patients to help them make sense of the difficulties they are experiencing and support them in working towards their recovery goals. We recognise the complex nature of eating disorders and try at all times to be sensitive to individual needs. We always work with GPs and other care agencies when necessary.

We can offer:

  • Comprehensive assessment to identify individual needs and care planning
  • Food and nutritional information and guidance
  • Psychoeducation
  • Guided self-help using manuals and other resources including group work
  • A range of psychological interventions
  • As required,  referral to individual psychotherapy
  • Carers Support

Information for professionals:

Referrals are accepted from other health professionals, via Single Point of Access. As well as information in the eating difficulties being experienced by the patient we require up to date information on physical health, which includes weight, BMI, and also any relevant blood tests.  It is important for GPs to be involved and aware of any referral as GPs retain medical responsibility for their patient’s physical health whilst they are open to the Eating Disorders Team. We are happy to discuss potential referrals with you if you would like to telephone us first.
